Community Comparison Dashboard

The following information has been compiled to allow the public to benchmarks Rutland in comparison to similar communities in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The communities that were selected as comparable to Rutland include those within the Wachusett Regional School District, as well as communities in the generally Central Massachusetts sub-region, between 5,000 and 15,000 residents. Communities with a rural designation, which is designated as a population density of less than 500 residents per square mile, were also considered.

  • Expenses by Function: FY2024 Expenses as classfied by Mass. Department of Revenue
  • Tax Levies by Class: The amount of funds raised in the property tax levy by class
  • Populatioin: 2023 Population as reported to Mass. Department of Revenue
  • Average Single Family Tax Bill: Average Single Family Tax bill based upon the Average Single Family Home Value
  • Income Per Capita:2022 Total Income divided by Population as reported by Mass. Department of Revenue
  • EQV Per Capita: 2024 Total Value of Property divided by Population
  • Land Area: Total Land Area in Square Miles
  • Population Density: Residents per Square Mile
  • Road Miles: Public Road Miles as reported by Mass. Department of Transportation
  • % of Tax Levy: Resisential and Commercial/Industrial/Personal as a Percent of the Total Tax Levy
